Is Event Management This Simple?

Have you been given the responsibility of planning corporate events, only to realize how much work is actually involved in planning them? One way to deal with event planning and the stress involved in planning is to use an event management company. It’s really hard to do a full day’s work and then spend hours every week working to ensure that your event goes off without a hitch. An event planner gets paid to plan big corporate events day in day out, so they know what each event needs, and how to find it.

Among other things, an event management company will be able to help you set up a realistic budget, and will be sure to work within that budget. They have existing relationships with vendors and event venues, and knowledge of which vendors provide what services or products. All of this can mean they may be able to get your company products and facilities at a discounted rate because of those relationships. This saves you a lot of work calling vendors to find the one with a price in your budget and who offers exactly what you are looking for your event.

Whether your event is a company wide team building event or corporate entertainment, an important annual conference, or charity gala ball, using event management is the easiest way to do it. Once you tell the planner exactly what you want, all the little details and large decisions are taken off your hands. The event planner has a lot of experience with different types of events, so knows exactly how to do it. You don’t have to worry about how everything will look, or even if your event will go off, since you have hired a professional to do it. Event planners are normally perfectionists, and will want to make sure that the customer is more than happy, and that the event goes smoothly.

Anyone who has planned an event knows that not only are there many little details that pop up, usually at the end, but that there is always some emergency that comes up. Using event management companies means that you don’t have to worry about that emergency because your event planner is right on top of it and can smooth it over and make your event an occasion that people talk about for years to come.

When One Door Closes

The past twenty-four months have been a very challenging time in our nation. Many individuals have been directly affected by the economic downturn, others indirectly. Economic theories have been turned upside down. Business models that have worked for decades are broken.

How do you deal with these new realities? Understand your strengths and connect with your purpose in life. Give yourself permission and time to explore new options for your future. Explore the world, meet new people, expose yourself to new ideas, and try new challenges. Your direction will emerge through this exploration.

Many of you know I work with a group called “Men in Transition”, last year NPR did several stories about our workshops. This past week a gentleman announced to the group that the concept of “transition” should be thought of more than just finding your next job but the “new normal”, a permanent state of transition. By this he meant that changes in the marketplace and the world were moving so quickly that we must constantly be evolving, taking action to expand our value. He also expressed that this past twenty-four months has been a profound change for how many of the men in the group now define themselves not just their work, also their families, friends and community.

Considerable Factors to Decide On Venues to Hire

Finding the right venue for an event can be quite an arduous task especially if you have never hired a venue before. First figure out what is the event for which you are hiring a venue. Is it a marriage reception? Is it a business meeting? Secondly, for how long do you want to hire the venue, and how many people are you going to invite. This is very important as knowing how many guests are expected, will help you in selecting the right venue.

However, one factor, which is of prime importance regardless of the reason that you are hiring it for an event is, how easily it can be reached. The venue should be easily accessible by private and public transport. It should also have enough parking spaces for all the guests. If it is a wedding reception then your requirements of the venue will not be as elaborate.

You will be hiring the venue for some hours, and you will want comfortable seating arrangements. If you plan to hire a band, the venue should be able to provide the electrical outlets for the band to setup their equipment. You would also require a dance floor. Catering becomes of prime importance at a wedding reception.

If it is a business event, like a shareholders meeting, then again it will be a one-day affair, and the venue should have comfortable classroom like seating arrangements. There should be audio/visual facilities that can be heard and seen by the entire audience. The air conditioning and heating arrangements in the venue should offer a comfortable atmosphere.

If it is a top-level business executives meeting, then you would want a conference table seating arrangement, and again, it must be comfortable and the audio, visual equipment must be in perfect working order. One factor that you should note when hiring such a venue is that there is no external noise interference. Generally, venues have large halls, which they divide using partition for smaller events, and these are not sound proof.

If, the venue is required for a product launch, then you will probably need ramps, like if a car manufacturer is launching a new model. Again, the audio, video system and access to the main display area has to be convenient.

For any business meeting, there are two other factors, which must be considered before you hire a venue. One of these is catering arrangements. These arrangements must be strictly followed, as business firms do not like any delays in such events. The second requirement is of a business centre, especially if the media is attending the meeting. Facilities for physically handicapped people also must be considered.

The staffs at the venue should be courteous and efficient and should be able to cope with the requirements of the meeting. It is always a good idea to check out a venue from all angles before contacting them.

The World of Contemporary Office Furniture

The mentality of people today has undergone a lot of change from what were just a few years back. This change in mentality is applicable even in the case of office furnishing. Even till the recent past office owners never gave a lot of importance to the issue of furnishing their offices. This is because they were mostly of the opinion that furnishing and style has nothing much to do with the actual office work. An office runs on the basis of the smooth functioning of the business and the work efficiency of the employees. Though this view is partially true, it does not make much sense. If an office decor is not comfortable and up to the mark, it cannot help the employees to enjoy working in the office, which in turn would affect the prosperity of the business. Therefore, furnishing of an office does hold a lot of importance. The office furnishing styles had evolved to a great extent; from contemporary office furniture to modern office furniture- every style is available when it comes to office furniture.

The world of contemporary furniture is truly eclectic. The shape, texture and color of contemporary furniture have an identity of its own. The simplistic style of contemporary furniture is its characteristic feature which imparts a clean and uncluttered look to the office space. The crisp, straight lines define contemporary furniture and that in turn makes it perfect for contemporary, modern work spaces. Contemporary office furniture comes in smooth and flat textures that keep the original simplicity of the furniture intact. The lack of ostentation and ornamentation make this style ideal for the no nonsense, professional office atmosphere. The texture used to manufacture the contemporary office furnishing items is practical and commensurate with the needs of the contemporary requirements.

The materials and fabrics that are used to manufacture the contemporary furniture have one basic characteristic- they are flat in nature. This gives the characteristic flat texture to the contemporary furniture. Unconventional and modern materials like chrome, glass, and metals are used either together or separately to manufacture contemporary furniture. Crisp lines and smooth textures are perfectly created with the help of these modern, fashionable materials. Wood is rarely used to construct contemporary office furniture since it lacks the novelty that is characteristic of contemporary furniture.

Apart from the signature materials and texture of contemporary furniture, color too plays an important role in defining this style of furnishing items. Neutral colors like white, black and tan are mostly used to manufacture contemporary furniture. These colors are not only stylish but are conventional too. This lack of variation makes the contemporary office furniture look professional and classy. The color scheme of the contemporary furnishing is something that is at par with modern office needs and decor. These contemporary furnishing items should be teamed up with colorful, bright and lively accessories that would help these contemporary furnishing items to stand out.
